For goodness sake; Feed your body well and Feel the difference!

Veggies have been the focal point on the last few blogs…but I couldn’t any longer ignore the rest of the food system. Fruits, grains, nuts etc are all an important part. So here goes…

FENNEL: fennel seed is great for infant colic! Suppress the growth of certain tumors, dried fruit of the fennel contains essential oils with a rich mix of heart healthy compounds, fennel oil counteracts cataracts and spasms of the smooth muscle in the stomach; relieves gas pains, and alleviates cramping; often offered after dinner as s soothing effect on the digestive system; also makes a nice tea!

FIGS: beats candy when you want some instant sugar in a nice nutritional package; great fibre, (6 figs is almost 5g of fibre); calcium and magnesium, (more than a glass of OJ!); potassium (473 mg!), that means lower risk of heart disease and stroke; NB pureed figs can be used as a sweetener in many recipes. Get creative!

FERMERNTED SOY: With all the talk about soy…god or bad…the bottom line is FERMENTED SOY is what you are looking for. Tempeh and miso are natural and good for you. The soy found in most products is not good for you.

FREE RANGE POULTRY: Chicken and Turkey. Okay, so know that I am vegetarian, but if I did eat meat, free range or organic only. Yes, protein, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, calcium and zinc. OLD WIVES TALE: At Thanksgiving, people think they get tired from turkey due to the tryptophan in the turkey, truly there is not that much in it…people get tired because the eat so darn much!

Flaxseed was one of the original medicines used by Hipprocates himself. Essential fatty Asics (Omega 3, 6s and 9s); can help prevent cardio vascular challenges,  cancer, arthritis, and other degenerative diseases; contain lignans (effective against cancers of the breast, uterine and prostate); increases the SHBG; 3 tbsp a day may just decrease cancer growth.
